Weather Network vs Environment Canada

Do any serious weather watchers have any opinions on which of the two
weather services is more accurate?

I always check Environment Canada - I rarely visit the Weather Network
website. Further, since I'm on satellite, the Weather Network TV channel
is next to useless to me, since it doesn't have local forecasts like
they do on cable - it cycles through major centres from coast to coast.

I'm just curious - interested to know if anyone has noticed if one is
more accurate than the other!

On a side note - I check the Shearwater EC page, but over Christmas the
current conditions haven't been updated. Perhaps the weather centre at
Shearwater closed for the holidays?

Considering the weathe rnetwork's site is still showing Saturday's forecast,
I'd have to say EC.

I go with EC. WeatherNetwork is rarely as accurate as EC.

I think they get all their data from EC anyway , so go straight to source.

It was up to date ... or their version thereof ... the last time I
looked.

I check both on the internet. On this blizzard, they both agreed. But
anyway, here's something that REEALLY made me wonder where CTV NEwsnet
gets whoever does their forecasting. Here we had blizzard warnings up
yesterday, and here was a guy on Newsnet doing the weather saying we'd
just have flurries today with accumulation of 2-5 cm. Who on earth came up
with THAT at CTV??? <shaking head>

*** Newsnet is based in Toronto and may not have had the latest EC
update from the Dartmouth office.

TWN is amazingly inaccurate considering that their only reason for being
is to forecast weather. They claim they have their own network of
forecasters and data-gatherers across the country, but if that's the case,
they do a very poor job. Their forecasts are often laughably wrong.
